It is more than a resolution upgrade
STEINS;GATE RE:BOOT retains the premise and central cast of STEINS;GATE while rebuilding major parts of its presentation and revising its scenario. Official descriptions call it a reboot with major revamps, not a simple port of the 2009 Xbox 360 release.
Scenario and new story material
The revised scenario is based on STEINS;GATE ELITE. It has been adjusted for smoother pacing and readability, with additional dialogue and narrative text. Official materials also confirm a brand-new worldline and an additional ending scenario.
Spike Chunsoft identifies the additional route as the Gamma Worldline. Its existence and broad premise are official; its exact unlock requirements are not treated as verified by this guide before release and independent playtesting.
Voices, music and sound
All in-game Japanese voices have been re-recorded with the returning cast. Composer Takeshi Abo has remade the in-game background music. This means the audio changes are a full production update rather than a small selection of replacement tracks.
Redrawn visual presentation
Characters, backgrounds and event stills have been redrawn from scratch. The official comparison states that the number of event stills is approximately double the Xbox 360 version, while background visuals have increased by roughly 20 percent.

The comparison material also shows how recognizable Akihabara locations were reconstructed with denser period detail.

RE:BOOT also adopts E-mote character animation, adding movement such as subtle facial expression and breathing. That is a different presentation philosophy from the largely static character sprites associated with the original release.
What has not been established yet
Before verified playthrough data is available, the following should not be presented as fact:
- whether every original route condition is unchanged;
- the exact flags required for the Gamma Worldline;
- the complete ending order;
- whether an old True Ending checklist remains reliable step for step.
The Differences reference keeps a compact list of official facts, while the RE:BOOT vs Original page focuses on which version may suit a particular player.
